A life-size statue of one of India’s all-time cricketing greats, Sachin Tendulkar will be erected inside the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Master Blaster is inspecting and finalising the location for the statue at the Stadium today. The Little Master is being accompanied by his wife Anjali.

“Pleasant surprise. My career started here. It was a journey with unbelievable memories. Best moment of my career came here when we won 2011 World Cup… last game I played in 2013. All big moments, most of them, happened here,” Tendulkar, one of the world’s best cricket players said.

The statue is being erected by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). President of MCA Amol Kale accompanied the Tendulkars this morning at the Wankhede Stadium.
Tendulkar is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. He holds the record for all-time highest run score in both ODI (with over 18000 runs) and Test cricket (over 15000 runs) in total. He also holds the record for receiving the maximum number of Man-of-the-Match awards in international cricket.

Tendulkar was honoured with Bharat Ratna in 2013. Till date he is the youngest recipient of India’s highest civilian award. In 2021 he was nominated to Rajya Sabha (Upper House) as a Member of Parliament.
He has been honoured with Arjuna Award in 1994, Khel Ratna (India’s highest sporting honour) in 1997, Padma Shri in 1999 and Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
Tendulkar started playing cricket at the tender age of 11 and retired in November 2013 at the age of 40.
