Regualarisation of 147 Posts Nagaland: The Cabinet decided to await the HPC’a report before taking any decision.

The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), the Confederation of All Nagaland Teachers Association (CTAN), and the Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNQF) have decided to resume their agitation from tomorrow.

This even as the Nagaland Cabinet today announced its decision to reduce the timeline of the High Powered Committee (HPC) to submit its report on the regularisation of 147 posts of assistant professors and librarians to a month from the earlier two months, the

The Cabinet decided to await the HPC’a report before taking any decision.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang explained, “The reason we have constituted the High Powered Committee is to dig out who has committed the mistake, in which year, and how many were appointed based on what. The government is going to question the concerned departments and officers. The Committee has to study the matter and submit its report.”

Zeliang emphasized that the Cabinet cannot blindly reverse its earlier decision without a thorough study. He asserted that a final decision would be taken only after the HPC’s findings were received, expressing hope that the Cabinet would take positive steps forward.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet has appealed to the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), the Confederation of All Nagaland Teachers Association (CTAN), and the Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNQF) to withhold their planned agitations.

Following the Cabinet meeting, NSF, CTAN, and NNQF leaders held separate closed-door meetings with Deputy Chief Minister Zeliang, Minister K.G. Kenye, and Chief Secretary J. Alam. However, with the expiry of NSF’s seven-day ultimatum and the Cabinet’s non-compliance with their demand to revoke the absorption order, the NSF announced plans to commence protests from tomorrow.

Similarly, the CTAN and NNQF have also decided to resume their protests indefinitely from tomorrow.

It needs to be mentioned that, earlier on April 21 the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), and the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) gave a seven-day ultimatum to the Nagaland government to roll back the Cabinet decision regularising the appointment of 147 adhoc assistant professors in Nagaland.

The Naga Students’ Federation had earlier strongly condemned the Nagaland Cabinet’s decision on Thursday to regularise 147 contractual assistant professors’ posts in the Department of Higher Education. The Federation called the move “very blunt” and criticized the government for taking such a step despite widespread opposition from various organizations.
