All the accused were brought to Shillong and police started interrogation when they were remanded to 8 day police custody.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Meghalaya Police have reached Sohra along with all the 5 accused of Raja Raghuvanshi murder case. The team is recreating the crime scene. SP East Khasi Hills, Vivek Syiem is leading the team. All the five accused including mastermind, Raj Kuswaha and Sonam Raghuvanshi have been taken to Sohra from Shillong Sadar Police Station.
At 12 noon sharp, 7 police vehicles carrying the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Meghalaya Police led by Vivek Syiem and Sonam Raghuvanshi and the other accused rolled into Weisadong waterfalls, in Sohra where the cold-blooded murder of Raja Raghuvanshi took place on May 23, just 12 days after he married Sonam Raghuvanshi and Sonam became the killer bride or the killer wife.
The Meghalaya Police team is recreating the crime scene today. This is being done amid bad weather conditions at Sohra. Visibility is down to almost zero as dense fog has enveloped the entire area, it is raining and the temperatures have plummeted making it quite chilly out there. But the Meghalaya Police have proved their mettle by already almost cracking the case, and bad weather conditions or hostile terrain do not deter them.
Wei Sawdong Water Falls is the location where the brutal murder of Raja Raghuvanshi took place. Initially it was a missing case of Raja and Sonam Raguvanshi which the police was chasing. A missing case was registered on 23 May. But 11 days later, the decomposed body of Raja Rahuvashi was spotted by a drone used for surveillance and immediately a murder case was registered. The post mortem report of Raja Raghuvanshi confirmed that it was a clear case of murder. But Sonam Raghuvanshi was still missing.
A Special Investigation Team was constituted to probe the case. Very diligently the SIT began its probe and started connecting all the dots. When the SIT gathered enough clues, 4 teams were dispatched to Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and launched Operation Honeymoon.
Success struck on 9 May when Sonam Raghuvanshi was traced to a roadside dhaba at Nandganj in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur at 1 am. Sonam was arrested by Meghalaya Police.
According to Meghalaya Police, Sonam came under pressure to surrender after four other accused — Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand — were arrested from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh by Meghalaya Police. All the accused were brought to Shillong and police started interrogation when they were remanded to 8 day police custody.
The interrogation has already revealed startling facts about this chilling murder. On 12 June East Khasi Hills SP, Vivek Syiem told media that Raj Kuswaha was the mastermind. It was a love affair. They had multiple plans. 3 people came on 19 May. They had plans to eliminate Raja in Guwahati, but did not work out. Murder took place at 2:18 PM at Sohra. Sonam changed buses.Sonam wore a burka that was brought by Vivek Singh Chauhan. It is a love angle. Raj planned to kill Raja 11 days before their marriage. Raj Kushwaha is the mastermind, Sonam the partner. Raj asked Sonam to surface in Siliguri and play victim. But Siliguri plan was given up after Akash was arrested and Raj panicked and asked Sonam to surface wherever she was. Sonam was in Ghazipur & called her family. Raj told Sonam to say she was abducted & play victim. Three times Raja was targeted before the fourth attempt when they succeeded. Raja was killed in the 4th attempt.
However on 16 June, Meghalaya DGP, Idashisha Nongrang said the investigators probing the murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi in Sohra were not treating the love triangle as the only motive, and they are looking into various other angles.
With all these facts the Meghalaya Police on Tuesday took all the accused to Sohra to recreate the crime scene. The 8 day police remand of all the 5 accused ends on Wednesday when Meghlaya Police will plead for more days of police remand to fully investigate the case to make a solid water tight case.
Significatly, the Meghalaya Police’s swift and efficient handling of the case has garnered widespread praise from all quarters .Congratulations poured in for solving the mysterious death of Raja Raghuvanshi and arresting those responsible.
