The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Meghalaya Police has detained two more individuals from Indore in connection with the ongoing probe into the high-profile murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi in Sohra Meghalaya on May 23.
Superintendent of Police (East Khasi Hills) Vivek Syiem confirmed the fresh arrests, identifying one of the arrested as a property dealer and leasee who had rented out a flat to Vishal Singh Chauhan, one of the main accused in the case who in turn handed over the keys to Raj. Investigators believe Sonam Raghuvanshi, the wife of the deceased and a co-accused, had been staying at the same flat prior to her arrest.
The second individual arrested is reportedly a security guard of the apartment complex and is suspected to hold crucial information related to the movements of the accused and other key aspects of the case.
Police sources disclosed that CCTV footage captured the property dealer and leasee, identified as Silome James, removing a bag belonging to Sonam from the flat after her arrest. His detention is linked to the disappearance of several items believed to be important to the investigation.
Both individuals are expected to be produced in court at Indore and Transit remand will be acquired to bring them to Shillong to be produced before the local court for remand.
Sonam and Raj were yesterday sent to 13-day judicial custody by a Shillong court.
