The mystery behind the honeymoon murder of Raja Raghuvanshi from Indore in Meghalaya has taken a chilling turn. According to Meghalaya Police, Sonam Raghuvanshi orchestrated her husband’s murder, and at the center of the plot is Raj Kushwaha, her 21-year-old boyfriend, who worked at her father’s factory.

Sonam’s father runs a business selling Sunmica sheets used in furniture. Raj Kushwaha was working at his warehouse until the day before yesterday.

As per reports, Raj Kushwaha is 5 years younger than Sonam. Sonam often used to visit her father’s factory, during this time Sonam and Raj came very close to each other and their love started blossoming.

But Sonam’s family got her married to Raja Raghuvanshi, who runs a transport business in Indore on May 11, 2025.

Sonam got married to Raja, but could not forget her love Raj Kushwaha and both of them together made a plan to get rid of Raja. Even after marriage, Sonam used to talk to Raj on the phone for hours and was planning to get rid of Raja.

During this time, Sonam made a plan to murder Raja Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya’s Sohra and brought him to Shillong on the pretext of a honeymoon.

Raja’s family said that Sonam had selected the place for the honeymoon and she had also booked the tickets. Sonam had booked the ticket to Shillong but not the return ticket.

Raja and Sonam left Indore on May 20 and first reached Guwahati, where the newlywed couple visited the Kamakhya temple and took blessings. Then reached Shillong on 22nd May and spent a night in a guest house there.

The next day Sonam and Raja checked out of the hotel and left for Sohra on a scooter. On this day itself Sonam spoke to her mother-in-law on her mobile, on the phone Sonam told her mother-in-law that she was climbing a mountain.

Raj Kushwaha himself never came to Shillong to execute this conspiracy.

He was connected to the entire plan only through the phone. Sonam who was in Shillong met the contract killers present there. After this, the whole team reached Sohra.

On 23 May, Sonam took her husband Raja Raghuvanshi to a deserted road and the team committed the crime.

After committing the murder, the four – Sonam, Akash, Vishal and Anand – returned to Shillong and from there went straight to Guwahati.

In midnight today, Sonam Raghuvanshi surrendered to Uttar Pradesh Police.

She is now in Uttar Pradesh Police Custody.
