Rahul Dravid likely to step down as Indian Cricket Team’s head coach

A heartbreaking news for the fans of cricket. Head coach of the Indian Cricket Team and former captain of the Indian team, Rahul Dravid is likely to resign from his role of head coach.

According to reports, multiple sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that the legendary batter, whose two-year contract ended with the end of the ICC World Cup 2023, has reportedly decided not to continue as the head coach of the Indian team and has informed the BCCI about this decision.

His close friend VVS Laxman, who is now the head coach of a second-string Indian squad that will take on Australia in a five-match T20I series in Vizag from Thursday is likely to replace Dravid, reports said.

Rahul Dravid has the option to reapply for the role. He might, however, choose to resume his Indian Premier League (IPL) commitments.

Dravid had been appointed as the head coach of Team India in November 2021 on a 2 year contract.

According to Times of India reports, Dravid has informed the BCCI that he is not continue as a full-time coach. He has been a player for the Indian team for almost 20 years, and throughout the last few years, he has had to endure the same ordeal once more, which he finds unpleasant. He is pleased to continue working in his hometown of Bengaluru as the head of the NCA, a position he has held in the past. Like before, he is okay with coaching the team sporadically, but not as a full-time coach once more time.

Meanwhile, Laxman has also expressed his keenness for the role.
