Ragging at JNV Changlang: 24 students of 8th standard brutally thrashed by seniors

A case of ragging has been reported from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in Bordumsa Sub-Division of eastern Arunachal’s Changlang district where as many as 24 students were allegedly mercilessly beaten by their seniors injuring them severely.
The horrific ragging incident which has sent shockwaves across the state was reported on Tuesday afternoon.
As per inputs, when the 24 boarders went for lunch at around 2 pm after their school was over, a group of 5 students of 11th standard allegedly tortured them physically and mentally.
Principal of the school, Rajiv Ranjan said that all 5 accused students have been suspended for their heinous acts as per the decision of a disciplinary committee and they will be handed over to their parents today.
Moreover, a meeting of the school’s Parent Teacher Council (PTC) has been convened today for further action on the issue, said Rajiv Ranjan.
The injured students have been given preliminary treatment.
Meanwhile, guardians blamed the school administration, particularly the principal of the institution, Rajiv Ranjan for the entire horrific episode and demanded strict action for the guilty students as well as the administration of the school.
Earlier in 2018, as many as 3 students of 6th standard at the JNV, Doimukh under Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh were ragged by a group of 9 students of class 7. Later all 9 accused students were suspended for their act.
In 2023, over 20 students fell prey to ragging by senior students at Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy in Chimpu, 25 kilometers from Capital Itanagar.
