Probe on Shillong blast underway, perpetrators not to be spared: Conrad Sangma

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today informed that further probe into the January 30 Shillong IED blast is underway even as a couple of suspects have been detained within hours of the blast.

Conrad Sangma assured that the police and the state government machinery are working overtime to crack the case. Those involved in the IED blast will not be spared, assured CM Conrad Sangma.

Reacting to the opposition’s allegations of intelligence failure leading to the incident, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that there is a huge flow of information that the security agencies otherwise do not miss.

Conrad Sangma said because the agencies acted on specific inputs, the accused in the blast could be picked up in a short span of time. Sangma said that the police and intelligence agencies are working in close co-ordination to keep law and order intact.

The Shillong blast had taken place at the heart of the city at Police Bazar. Luckily no one was injured although it created fear and panic among the residents.
