During his visit, PM Modi will inaugurate several projects meant for the development of Sikkim. One of the key projects will be the 500-bedded Namchi District Hospital, which is designed to offer advanced medical care and improve healthcare services in the region.
Another major initiative is the Swarna Jayanthi Maitreya Manjri, a project that will celebrate 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood and highlight the state’s achievements. Additionally, PM Modi will unveil the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Statue as a tribute to the former Prime Minister’s leadership and contributions to the country.
Tourism infrastructure will also receive a significant boost with the inauguration of the Passenger Ropeway at Sangachoeling, which will connect Pelling to the famous Sangachoeling Monastery. This project aims to make it easier for tourists and pilgrims to visit the monastery while also promoting tourism in the region.
Along with inaugurating completed projects, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stones for several new initiatives that will shape Sikkim’s future. One of the major projects will be the Golden Jubilee Convention Centre in Namli, which will be a world-class venue for hosting conferences and events. Another important project will be the Bhaleydhunga Skywalk, which will be India’s first eco-tourism skywalk, designed to attract adventure tourists and nature lovers.
The Nathula Border Tourism Development Project is another ambitious plan that will enhance tourism in the border area, making Nathula a globally recognised tourist destination. To improve connectivity and economic growth, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Singhshore Bridge, which will strengthen Sikkim’s transport network. Additionally, a Golden Jubilee Integrated Cultural & Sports Village will be established to provide a modern sports facility and encourage young athletes in the state.
Women’s safety and empowerment are also a priority in the development plans. PM Modi will launch the construction of a Working Women’s Hostel in Tadong, which will offer safe and comfortable accommodation for women professionals in Sikkim.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang stated that these projects are a reflection of Sikkim’s long-term vision for progress. He said that healthcare, tourism, infrastructure, and women’s welfare are the key focus areas of these initiatives. He also said that PM Modi’s participation in the statehood celebrations is a great honour for Sikkim and a strong sign of the Central government’s commitment to the state’s development.
