PM Modi mentions Meghalaya’s Brian D Kharpran who discovered over 1700 caves during Mann Ki Baat

Appreciating the efforts of Brian and his team, PM Modi urged the citizens of the country to visit the caves of Meghalaya.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, while addressing the 104th episode of his ‘Mann ki Baat’ radio programme, praised Meghalaya resident Brian D Kharpran and his team for discovering more than 1700 caves in the hill state.

The Prime Minister said that Brian has documented those creatures of the cave which are not found anywhere else in the world.

Modi said “Friends, I am happy to introduce you to Brian D Kharpran. Hailing from Meghalaya, he is passionate about speleology. Simply put, it means the scientific study of caves.”

PM further said that Brian did his first exploration as a schoolboy in 1964 and set out looking for more caves with his friend in 1990.

“And through this he started to find out about unknown caves of Meghalaya”, PM added.

“Brian along with his team also studied the fauna in those caves, uncovering some that are exceptionally rare and not found anywhere else on the planet. I commend them for their efforts”, PM launded.

Appreciating the efforts of Brian and his team, PM Modi urged the citizens of the country to visit the caves of Meghalaya.

Brian D Kharpran is the founder of the Meghalaya Adventures’ Association, he and his team discovered the ‘Fairy Cave’ the world’s longest sandstone cave measuring over 24.5 kilometres in Meghalaya.
