PM Modi Extends Best Wishes to Muhammad Yunus as Chief Adviser of Bangladesh’s Interim Government

In a message on social media X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoped for an early return of normalcy in Bangladesh
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his best wishes to Muhammad Yunus after he was sworn-in as the chief adviser to Bangladesh’s interim government today following weeks of intense student protests that led to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and flight from the country.
In a message on X Prime Minister Modi wrote, “My best wishes to Professor Muhammad Yunus on the assumption of his new responsibilities. We hope for an early return to normalcy, ensuring the safety and protection of Hindus and all other minority communities.”
“India remains committed to working with Bangladesh to fulfill the shared aspirations of both our peoples for peace, security and development,” Prime Minister Modi added.
Meanwhile, after arriving in Dhaka from Paris, Muhammad Yunus urged calm and appealed to Bangladeshis to “get ready to build the country.”
President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath of office to the new government.
Apart from Yunus, a total of 16 other advisers were sworn-in during the ceremony today.
They are Saleh Uddin Ahmed, Dr. Asif Nazrul, Adilur Rahman Khan, Hasan Arif, Touhid Hossain, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Md Nahid Islam, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Brigadier General (retd) M. Sakhawat Hossain, Supradip Chakma, Farida Akhter, Bidhan Ranjan Roy, AFM Khalid Hasan, Noorjahan Begum, Sharmeen Murshid, Faruk-e-Azam.
