Is a well-coordinated global network targetting Assam? Are there foreign elements at play working in tandem to destabilise Assam? Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has raised alarm over anti-India activities targeting the state through social media. He said that over 5,000 Facebook accounts, operated from 46 countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, are actively involved in attempts to destabilise Assam.

Chief Minister Sarma said 5000 Facebook accounts have been suddenly activated in the last one month. They were posting pro-Iran, pro-Palestine, pro-Muhammad Yunus content. The state has conducted a forensic audit of the Facebook accounts that have recently joined and studied 2092 Facebook accounts, and the study is going on.

Out of this, 618 accounts are from Bangladesh, 236 from Pakistan, two from Palestine, six from Brazil, one from Canada, Columbia, six from Egypt, 54 from France, four from Germany, 16 from Indonesia, eight from Iraq, three from Italy, 10 from Jordan, 88 from Kuwait, one from Lybia, 35 accounts from Afghanistan, four from Albania, two from Australia.
