Out on morning walk, woman dies after being crushed by wild elephant

In a tragic incident, a woman was killed in a wild elephant attack in Assam’s Goalpara today. The incident has been reported from the Bhalukdubi area. The deceased woman has been identified as Mehbooba Alam. The woman died after she was crushed benath the elephant’s feet.

Reportedly, the woman was out for a morning walk when she came face to face with the wild elephant. She ran to find a safe space but she was attacked by the elephant and trampled to death.

Earlier, in a rare incident, a wild elephant drank brew made by locals, got intoxicated, lost control, and went on the rampage seriously injuring two persons in Meghalaya’s North Garo Hills on October 9.

The incident took place on Sunday evening at Khaldang village, located in Resubelpara C.D. Block of North Garo Hills district.
