Sharing the party’s stand, Jamir maintained that they want to see all the voters coming independently, so that the welfare of the voters is considered first

With the current debate over the centre looking at introducing “One Nation, One Election”, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee slamming the BJP said that the saffron party has a hidden agenda for the coming Lok Sabha elections.

“After seeing the atmosphere of the Indian politics, they want to adopt and have a complete control over the voters, that’s why they are imposing ‘one nation one election’” NPCC President S. Supongmeren Jamir told Northeast Live.

Sharing the party’s stand, Jamir maintained that they want to see all the voters coming independently, so that the welfare of the voters is considered first, not for the agendas of BJP or to harass the voters in general.

The “One Nation, One Election” aims to hold Lok Sabha and assembly elections simultaneously. The BJP-led government has set up a committee under the chairmanship of former president Ram Nath Kovind to examine the “One Nation, One Election” system.

Reports suggest that the centre is planning to introduce the ‘One Nation, One Election’ Bill in Parliament during the special five-day session starting from September 18–22.

Speaking on the consideration of the government in changing the official country’s name to ‘Bharat’, Jamir remarked that the citizens of India will not give their consent and that this policy of the BJP is against the citizens of India.

“Hindus in general, they are not in favour of Hindutva, as well as RSS ideology. Infact, Hindus are the first person who are regional and patriotic, they are against the ideology of Hindutva. So, it will not affect. Infact, going in changing the names, the Hindus especially the majority population of India will go against the BJP,” said Jamir.

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Thursday joined the nation-wide district-level Bharat Jodo Padyatra and Bharat Jodo Sammelan in Kohima to commemorate the first anniversary of the historic Bharat Jodo Yatra.

To commemorate the event, supporters of the Congress Party gathered outside the Congress Bhavan and marched to the TCP, holding banners. Thereafter, a brief programme was held at the Congress Bhavan conference hall.
