CM Sarma did not mention any names, political observers believe his comments are directed at Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has sparked yet another significant political storm with his most recent statement stating that the minor children of a sitting Member of Parliament from Assam “are no longer citizens of India.”
In a post shared on social media platform X, Sarma made the statement without naming the MP, stating, “I say this with full responsibility the minor children of one Member of Parliament from Assam are no longer citizens of India. But this is just the beginning. There is much more yet to be revealed.”
The cryptic yet explosive remark has fuelled intense political speculation across the state. While CM Sarma did not mention any names, political observers believe his comments are directed at Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, who has recently faced strong criticism from the Chief Minister on various issues.
The controversy comes just days after Sarma raised questions about the citizenship status of the MP’s wife and children, suggesting deeper scrutiny into the family’s legal status in India.
