Official Delegation from Gelephu Mindfulness City, Bhutan Arrives in Guwahati On 6-Day Visit

An official delegation from Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), Bhutan arrived in Assam today on a six-day visit.

On the first day of their visit, the delegation visited the historic Hayagriva Madhab Temple at Hajo in Kamrup District, a revered ancient temple known for its spiritual and cultural significance.

The delegation also toured the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, where they held a meeting with Prof Devendra Jalihal, Director, IIT-Guwahati and his team and explored potential avenues for technological collaboration. During the meeting at the Centre for Nanotechnology, the delegation was briefed on the potential use of local materials such as bamboo for structural applications, as well as ongoing research at IIT-G in this area, and technologies like 3D printing of buildings.

The delegation was accompanied by Jigme Thinlye Namgyal, Consul General of Bhutan in Guwahati and Phurpa Tshering, Consul, Royal Bhutanese Consulate General, Guwahati, during the visits.

The delegation is scheduled to visit several other locations and institutions in the coming days as part of their Assam itinerary.

Tomorrow morning the delegation will visit Assam State Zoo & Botanical Garden and in the afternoon they will visit Umananda Island in the Brahmaputra river in Guwahati. After that the delegation will visit Guwahati Tea Auction Centre at Dispur.

On Monday, 9th June, the delegation will leave for Shillong. Their first stop will be at Umiam Lake and then they will proceed to Shillong.

The delegation will be back in Guwahati on Tuesday, 10th June. Soon after their arrival in Guwahati, they will call on Chief Minister Himanta Biswas Sarma followed by a meeting with Chief Secretary Ravi Kota.
Later in the afternoon the delegation will meet Assam DGP Harmeet Singh.

On Wednesday, 11th June, the delegation will visit Kamakhaya Temple and the Pandu Port.

On Thursday, 12th June the delegation will meet Northeast Live Editor-in-Chief Wasbir Hussain before leaving for Bhutan.
