The bridge will cut down travel time for areas like Nugong Banggo, Pangin, and Boleng connecting 1 circle and 9 villages.

Almost 14 years after its sanction, the long-awaited Nugong Bridge in Arunachal Pradesh’s Siang District is about to see the light of day as the bridge enters its final leg of construction.

Built over the mighty Siang River near Pangin town in the Siang district, the 225-meter-long Nugong Bridge is envisaged to provide proper road connectivity to historically important villages like Komsing and other villages on the left bank of River Siang.

The bridge will also cut down travel time for areas like Nugong Banggo, Pangin, and Boleng connecting 1 circle and 9 villages.

Pangin-Boleng MLA, Ojing Tasing, and Siang District Deputy Commissioner, Atul Tayeng along with other officials visited the bridge on Tuesday to check on the construction progress.

The bridge is scheduled to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pema Khandu by the end of August or September this year.

It needs to be mentioned here that the foundation stone for the bridge was laid back in 2008 by former Chief Minister, Dorjee Khandu, the father of incumbent CM, Pema Khandu.

It also needs to be mentioned here that the Nugong Bridge has been sanctioned under NLCPR in 2007 with a total amount of Rs 18.34 crore.

On non-completion of the project within stipulated funds and time, the state government again sanctioned additional funds of Rs. 15 crores under SADA in the year 2018-19.
