The NSCN-K is finally seriously considering joining the peace talks with India.

Through an e-mailed communication on Friday, the outfit said it would seriously consider the Naga people’s genuine appeal for peace and political dialogue with Government of India.

The change in stand of the NSCN-K which has waged decades of incessant struggle against India has been prompted by the latest split in the outfit following impeachment of chairman Khango Konyak in Myanmar.

He was replaced by Yung Aung, a Burmese Naga and nephew of Khaplang who has led the outfit since its formation until his death last year.

According to sources, Nagas from the Indian side pledging allegiance to Konyak are meeting at an undisclosed location in Myanmar soon and in all likelihood will try to resume the ceasefire with India that it ended in March 2015.

In the written communication, the NSCN/GRPN also claimed it is still backed by more than 500 and still many more are ready to join hands.
