The NRC authorities and the Assam Police have issued a joint statement urging the people to be careful and not fall prey to any rumours.
The statement reiterated Centre’s recent statement that non-inclusion of a person in the final NRC would not amount to a person being declared a foreigner and that there is scope of appealing to Foreigners’ Tribunals within 120 days.
The notice released two toll-free numbers for NRC related queries. The numbers are:
15107 (For Assam) 1800-3453-762 (Outside Assam)
The notice also said that the government would provide all legal aid to the needy people excluded from the final NRC, through District Legal service authorities.
