Amidst rumours of a rift between Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli and T20 Captain Rohit Sharma, Kohli has made it clear that he will be available for the three-match ODI series against South Africa and he had never asked for a break, contrary to media reports.
Kohli also said that he came to know of Rohit Sharma replacing him as ODI captain just half an hour before the test series squad for South Africa was announced.

Kohli added that he was contacted one and a half hours before selection for Tests. Before the call ended he was told that the 5 selectors have decided that he won’t be ODI captain anymore, which he clarified he was fine with. Kohli also added there was no prior communication with him regarding the captaincy.
The opening Test match between India and South Africa will be played in Centurion at the Super Sport Park from December 26 to 30. Johannesburg’s Wanderers Stadium will be the host to the second Test scheduled from January 3 to 7 next year. The third and final Test will be played in Newlands in Cape Town from January 11 to 15. Other than the Tests, India will also engage in a three-match ODI series while the T20I series is rescheduled for later.
