No Improvement in Flood Scenario in Assam, Death Toll Mounts to 16

While one person died in Cachar, another person died in Nagaon taking the total death toll to 16 in this wave of flood.

There has been no improvement in the overall flood scenario in Assam. According to the latest bulletin issued by Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) two more deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours taking the total death toll due to floods and landslides in the state to 16.

While one person died in Cachar, another person died in Nagaon taking the total death toll to 16 in this wave of flood. As per the ASDMA bulletin, 63 Revenue Circles in 19 districts of the state remains affected.


As many as 6,78,877 people remain affected. 41,317 people are taking shelter in 190 Relief Camps. Additionally, 215 Relief Distribution Centre have also been opened up. SDRF is conducting evacuation at Hailakandi district since early hours of Thursday morning.

The districts which remain affected are Biswanath, Cachar, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Hojai, Jorhat,Kamrup, Karbi Anglong, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Nagaon, Sivasagar, Sonitpur and Sribhumi. Furthermore, 2 districts have also reported urban floods.

As reported on Thursday morning, total 2 districts and 3 Revenue Circles have been affected by Urban Floods in Kamrup , Kamrup Metro distrcits. A population of 1637 have been affected by Urban Flood so far. 617 people are taking shelter in 2 Relief Camps. Relief materials have been supplied by the district administration.
