The victim's father said that he does not need any kind of compensation, he just wants to know the cause of his son's suicide
Koj Pullo, the father of late Koj Buker who was found hanging in his hostel room at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Silchar, Assam today said that if the Dean and the institute’s Director are not guilty then they should come up with their statements of innocence rather then absconding.
It may be mentioned here that the students of NIT Silchar are continuously staging protests and alleged that it was due to the indifference of the Dean, Koj Buker committed suicide.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Buker’s father said, “Although the Dean and the Director of the institute are being held accountable for his son’s death by the students, I do not want to accuse anyone until investigation reports clarified, but wanna give a direct message to the Dean and the Director of NIT Silchar that since they are evading, they should not as evading is not the solution. Instead, they should come up with statements of their innocence and cooperate with the investigating officers of the Cachar Police to conduct a fair investigation.”
He said, “I spoke with Koj Buker on the phone the day before he committed suicide. He was completely normal and he did not mention any problems he was having. I never thought that he could take his own life.”
Pullo said that the post-mortem report is yet to come and to find out the reality and the cause behind the suicide of his son, he himself would visit Silchar soon.
He stated that he got a lot of support from the Cachar Police since day one and hopes for similar support from the authorities of the institute and other officials in the investigation process.
Koj Pullo said that he does not need any kind of compensation, he just wants to know the cause of his son’s suicide. He said that he has not yet filed any FIR against anybody regarding the incident but, he will file FIR at Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh after consultation.
Koj Buker died by suicide on September 15. He was a resident of Arunachal Pradesh and was a boarder at hostel number 7.
It is alleged that he was reportedly facing issues with his studies and was trying to reach out to his professors for assistance.
He tried to meet with the Dean, but the Dean allegedly denied his request and treated him disrespectfully, which compelled him to take this extreme step.
