NEHU Stalemate Continues: Students’ Indefinite Hunger Strike Enters Day 2

The indefinite hunger strike by the students of the premier university of the northeast has entered day two today.
Stalemate in the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in Shillong continues. The indefinite hunger strike by the students of the premier university of the northeast has entered day two today.
While the students continue their hunger strike, VC Prof P S Shukla has made his stand very clear that he will not step down, nor will the Registrar and the Deputy Registrar step down.
The students and the NEHU teachers’ association have been demanding the removal of VC Shukla accusing him of misusing power and being anti-tribal and the removal of Registrar Omkar Singh and Deputy Registrar Amit Gupta, labelling them “errant, irresponsible, and inefficient.”
The students’ hunger strike is led by the NEHU Students’ Union and the Khasi Students’ Union NEHU Unit.
Earlier, the NEHU Teachers’ Association also voiced support for the students’ demands.
