Nearly 30,000 illegal cannabis plantations worth Rs 1.5 crores destroyed in Tripura

Continuing its war against drugs, Tripura Police in collaboration with other security agencies destroyed 25,000 to 30,000 illegal cannabis plantations worth Rs 1.5 crore at General Area Kalam Chowra in Sephaijala district of Tripura on Thursday.

As per inuts, approximately 10 acres of forest land was used for cannabis plantation.

Based on inputs about illegal cannabis plantations, the joint team identified the plantation area and destroyed the cannabis plantations effectively putting an end to marijuana cultivation in Dashrathbari village and Taichama area, said Debasish Saha, Officer-in-Charge of Melaghar Police Station.

However, no arrests were made during the operation.

He further stated that similar campaigns will continue in the upcoming days.
