NE CMs congratulate Assam’s people on historic signing of ULFA peace accord

Chief Ministers of the northeastern states today welcomed the historic tripartite agreement signed between the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), the central government, and the Assam government on Friday in New Delhi.
The Chief Ministers of northeast have congratulated the people of Assam on the milestone achievement.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that this historic accomplishment will usher in an age of long-lasting peace and stability in the northeast under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

@narendramodi ji,” CM N Biren Singh wrote on X.
Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu also welcomed the historic peace pact and said that it will go a long way in ensuring lasting peace and all-round inclusive development in Assam.
CM Khandu said that there is no better way than one based on nonviolence, peace, and shared prosperity. It is a momentous step that ULFA cadres have decided to dissolve their camps and integrate into society.
“I heartily welcome the signing of a tripartite Memorandum of Settlement by ULFA with the Centre and Assam Government. It will go a long way in ensuring lasting peace and all-round inclusive development in Assam. No path is better than that of peace, non-violence and shared prosperity. The decision of ULFA cadres to disband their camps and join mainstream is a historic development, indeed. Gratitude to Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, Hon’ble Home Minister Shri @AmitShahJi for their exemplary guidance in restoring the elusive peace in the state! Compliments to Assam CM Shri @himantabiswa Ji for his perseverance in achieving the remarkable goal!,” CM Khandu wrote on X.
The tripartite agreement was signed on Friday in presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and 16 ULFA leaders, including Arabinda Rajkhowa and Anup Chetia in New Delhi.
As part of the peace agreement, the government has agreed to invest Rs 1.5 lakh crore, allocating 97 assembly seats in Assam to indigenous people, and declaring the state’s yearly floods as a “national priority”.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah termed it as a golden day for the future of Assam.
He noted that as many as 9 peace and border-related pacts have been signed in the last 5 years in the region signifying PM Modi’s concern for the region.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also termed the day as historic and pointed out that apart from the Paresh Baruah-led ULFA-Independent, all groups in Assam have now joined the mainstream. With the signing of the agreement, over 700 ULFA cadres will now join mainstream.
