The ENPO resolved that there should be no bloodshed, threat, intimidation, or any form of violence within the areas falling under ENPO jurisdiction.
The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) has strongly condemned the August 15 firing incidents in Mon district wherein 2 Assam Rifles personnel sustained injuries.
Talking exclusively to our correspondent Sarah Konyak, ENPO President R Tsapikiu Sangtam condemned the incidents and said that they were totally contrary to the Dec 18, 2007 ‘Tuensang Summit Resolution’, based on people’s desire for peace and tranquility within ENPO jurisdiction.
It may be mentioned here that on December 18, 2007, the ENPO resolved that there should be no bloodshed, threat, intimidation, or any form of violence within the areas falling under ENPO jurisdiction.
Sangtam said the Eastern Naga people are not happy with the continuous violations of the December 2007 ENPO resolution despite repeated requests to all the factions.
Sangtam also informed that the ENPO Executive Council will soon have a sitting and a decision will be taken on its next course of action.
It may be mentioned here that as many as 2 firing incidents were reported from Nagaland’s Mon district yesterday. The first took place in the wee hours when NSCN-K YA cadres attacked an Assam Rifles base camp at Nyasha.
At least, 2 AR personnel sustained injuries in the exchange of fire. Meanwhile, another firing incident took place at Longwa village near the India-Myanmar border later in the day.
