NSL Governing Body has decided to postpone the Playoff Match 2

N William Koso, a trailblazing football coach and coach educator from Nagaland, passed away this morning following a tragic road accident at Chumuokedima.

He was rushed to the Referral Hospital but was declared dead by the doctors at the Hospital.

Koso, widely recognized as the first coach from Nagaland to earn the prestigious AFCA license, leaves behind an enduring legacy in Indian football and a huge gap to fill for the Nagaland football community.
Koso was instrumental in bringing the Nagaland Super League to the state, serving as the technical committee convenor for the league.

In this role, he also ensured that the NSL upheld high standards of competition and professionalism while nurturing coaches into the NSL clubs through his coaching courses.

He also played a key role in training and certifying coaches, with more than five NSL coaches having been part of his courses, a testament to his commitment to uplifting grassroots coaching standards in the region.

Throughout his illustrious career, Koso served in several pivotal roles. He was a former assistant coach at Aizawl FC, contributing to the team’s I-League trophy win, and he led Life Sports Football Club as head coach, where his visionary approach nurtured talent and instilled discipline.

In a fitting tribute to this remarkable figure, the NSL Governing Body has decided to postpone the Playoff Match 2 following the announcement of Koso’s passing. The match between Barak FC and Nagaland United, initially set for March 25 at 4:30 pm, has been rescheduled to March 26, 2025 (Wednesday) at the same venue.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the bereaved family and loved ones of Mr. William Koso. His dedication, contributions, and vibrant presence will be deeply missed across the entire football community in Nagaland. May he rest in peace,” the NSL Governing Body’s condolence statement read.
