Mother-Daughter Duo Trampled To Death By Wild Jumbos In Assam’s Udalguri

The victims have been identified as Lalmek Karmakar (60) and her daughter Apu Karmakar (35).

A woman and her daughter were trampled to death as a herd of elephants went on a rampage through a village in Assam’s Udalguri district on Monday night.

The incident has been reported from the Dimakuchi area. The victims have been identified as Lalmek Karmakar (60) and her daughter Apu Karmakar (35).

The incident happened when the victims were asleep when a herd of elephants strayed into their village in Dimakuchi and allegedly attacked their house. Both died on the spot.

Following the incident, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.

Earlier, on December 8, 2024, two persons were trampled to death by wild elephants in separate incidents in Narayanpara village in Assam’s Goalpara district, causing panic among the villagers.
