Moreh firing: Fire services brought from Myanmar to douse flames

As many as 7 houses, 2 churches and 3 schools caught fire today during the gun battle between security forces and gunmen
Fire services from neighbouring Myanmar were brought in to douse flames, which had engulfed several buildings in Moreh town of Manipur during the gun battle that began as early as 3.40 AM today.
It may be mentioned here that situation continues to remain volatile in the border town. As many as 7 houses, 2 churches and 3 schools caught on fire today during the gun battle between security forces and gunmen.
3 houses, one church and a school caught fire at Canan Veng in Moreh and four houses, one church and two schools were burnt down at Phaicham Veng.
As many as two fire tenders from the Myanmar Fire Service Department were seen dousing the flames. As per sources, the structures caught fire as bombs and explosives were used during the gun battle.
Two security personnel including one IRB personnel have died while two others were injured in the exchange of fire. The injured have been airlifted to RIMS in Imphal.
In view of the fresh violence in Moreh, the state Government in a communique to the Union Home Ministry has cautioned that the situation might deteriorate further and has sought deployment of choppers in Imphal (capital of Manipur) to airlift security personnel and ammunition to Moreh.
Fresh gun battle started in Moreh on December 31 last year. Curfew has been clamped in Moreh and people have started fleeing the town bordering Myanmar.
