Newly elected MLA Pu Lalduhoma who won the bypoll to the 26 Serchhip Constituency took oath as a member of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
Assembly Speaker Lalrinliana Sailo administered the oath of office and secrecy to Lalduhoma during a function held at the assembly building in Aizawl.
Lalduhoma of the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) has won the bye-elections to the Serchhip Assembly seat by defeating his nearest opponent Mizo National Front (MNF) Vice President Vanlalzawma by a margin of 3,310 votes, which was held in April 17.
Bypoll to the Serchhip Assembly Constituency was necessitated following disqualification of the ZPM leader under anti-defection law in November last year.
The 71-year-old was disqualified as an MLA on the grounds that he had declared himself as a representative of the ZPM party. He was elected as an Independent from the Serchhip constituency in the 2018 elections.
