Mizoram Polls 2023: 30 polling stations identified as vulnerable

2 polling stations in each of Champhai South and East Tu-pui constituency in the Champhai district were identified as vulnerable

A total of 30 polling stations have been identified as critical and vulnerable in poll bound Mizoram.

While 29 polling stations along the State’s borders with Bangladesh, Myanmar, Assam, and Tripura were identified as vulnerable, one polling station at Bo-raguisuri in the Tuichawng assembly constituency near the Bangladesh border was identified as critical, said State election department official on Thursday.

8 polling booths in Hachhek constituency, 3 in Dampa constituency, and 2 in Mamit constituency in the Mamit district are among the vulnerable ones.

Similarly, one polling station in the Kolasib district and 6 in Serlui constituency were identified to be vulnerable.

2 polling stations in each of Champhai South and East Tu-pui constituency in the Champhai district were specified as vulnerable.

While 3 polling stations in the Tuivawl constituency in Aizawl district and 2 in Tuichawng constituency were identified as vulnerable.

The Boraguisury polling station in Tuichawng constituency was identified as critical owing to abnormally high percentage of votes cast for one candidate Kali Kumar Tongchangya, the former chief executive member of the Chakma Autonomous District Council in the 2018 Assembly elections.

Personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) would be deployed at the all vulnerable polling stations, said the officials.

Mizoram assembly elections for 40 seats will be held on November 7. The results will be declared on December 3.
