Mizoram Poll Results 2023: ZPM sweeps urban seats of Aizawl

ZPM won 13 of the 14 seats in Aizawl district. MNF managed to bag just one seat.

The Mizoram poll results have been a big upset for the incumbent Mizo National Front (MNF) that has been ruling the state for a decade winning the 2013 and 2018 elections. It is not just that Chief Minister and party chief Zoramthanga lost his Aizawl East – I seat to ZPM Vice President Lalthansanga, the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) won big in the Aizawl district, sweeping 13 of the 14 urban seats.

MNF managed to win just one seat – Tuival. Lalchhandama Ralte won the seat with 6,501 votes. He defeated his nearest rival, ZPM’s JMS Dwangliana by 2,019 votes.

Here is the full list of the winners in the 14 seats of Aizawl district –

Aizawl East-I- Lalthansanga(ZPM) defeats Zoramthanga(MNF) by 2101 votes.
Aizawl East-II- B. Lalchhanzova(ZPM) defeats B. Lalawmpuii(MNF) by 2756 votes.
Aizawl North-I- Vanlalhlana(ZPM) defeats R.Lalzirliana(MNF) by 5485 votes.
Aizawl North-II- Vanlalthlana(ZPM) defeats Vanlalsawma(MNF) by 6507 votes.
Aizawl North-III- K.Sapdanga(ZPM) defeats C.Lalmuanpuia(MNF) by 1870 votes.
Aizawl South-I- C. Lalsawivunga(ZPM) defeats K.Vanlalvena(MNF) by 3625 votes.
Aizawl South-II- Lalchhuanthanga(ZPM) defeats Lalmalsawma Nghaka(INC) by 1639 votes.
Aizawl South-III- Baryl Vanneihsangi(ZPM) defeats F. Lalnunmawia(MNF) by 1414 votes.
Aizawl West-I- TBC Lalvenchhunga(ZPM) defeats Zothantluanga(MNF) by 4667 votes.
Aizawl West-II- Lalnghinglova Hmar(ZPM) defeats Lalruatkima(MNF) by 4819 votes.
Aizawl West-III- V. L. Zaithanzama(ZPM) defeats Lalsawmvela(MNF) by 4582 votes.
Chalfilh- Lalbiakzama(ZPM) defeats K.Lalhmangaiha(MNF) by 1833 votes.
Tawi- Lalnilawma(ZPM) defeats Lalrinenga Sailo(MNF) by 1552 votes.
Tuivawl- Lalchhandama Ralte(MNF) defeats JMS Dawngliana(ZPM) by 2019 votes.
