Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) MLA Andrew H Thangliana died at a hospital in Aizawl on Tuesday. He was 44.

The Tuirial legislator died of several complications, including liver failure and heart attack at the Ebenezer Medical Centre in Aizawl today morning.

The legislator was admitted to the Civil Hospital on July 21 and was later shifted to Ebenezer Medical Centre on August 12.

Thangliana entered active politics in the year 2017 at ZPM party under the leadership of Lalduhoma.

During the 2018 assembly polls, a political novice Thangliana was named as the official candidate of ZPM for the Tuirial seat but had to contest as an Independent as the ZPM was yet to obtain party registration at that time.

He won the State Assembly Elections in 2018 from Tuirial Constituency defeating his nearest opponent Sailothanga Sailo of Mizo National Front (MNF).

Thangliana is survived by three children and wife. The ZPM leaders funeral was held at his residence in Aizawl.
