Mizoram: Large quantity of explosives bound for Myanmar seized, 2 arrested

The arrested person has been sent to 72 hours police remand and efforts are on to trace the backward and forward linkages.
The Mizoram Police recovered large quantity of explosives in the outskirts of Aizawl and arrested two people including one Myanmar national. The consignment was bound for Myanmar.
In the wee hours of Monday, Hnahthial Police Station staff intercepted a vehicle driven by a 24-year-old resident of Sangau town in South Mizoram Lawngtlai district.
The Police learnt that driver of the vehicle was illegally transporting 8000 gelatin sticks and 1500 detonators which he was transporting to Sangau town bordering Myanmar.
The vehicle was seized and the man was arrested. A case was registered under sections of the Explosive Substances Act at the Hnahthial PS.
The arrested person has been sent to 72 hours police remand and efforts are on to trace the backward and forward linkages.
Furthermore, the alleged owner of these explosives, one Straliana of Bungtlang, Myanmar was also arrested from Sangau town on Monday afternoon.
