Mizoram Gears Up to Boost Cultural Tourism with New Heritage Committee

In a major step towards promoting Mizoram’s cultural and tourism potential, Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar on Tuesday chaired a crucial meeting to discuss the formation of the Mizoram Heritage & Tourism Development Committee.

The meeting brought together senior officials from the Tourism Department, Art & Culture Department, Information & Public Relations Department, Land Revenue & Settlement Department, and the Planning & Programme Implementation Department.

Manaj Saha, President of the India Chapter of the Association Internationale des Arts Plastiques/International Association of Art, also joined the meeting through video conferencing and shared his valuable insights.

During the discussion, the Tourism Minister stressed the importance of preserving and promoting Mizoram’s rich cultural heritage, especially traditional handicrafts, paintings, and historical village homes. He said these elements are not just symbols of the state’s identity but also strong attractions for tourists.

The Minister pointed out that these traditional art forms and cultural assets deserve more recognition and support. He urged all departments to work together to bring Mizoram’s heritage to a larger platform and showcase it to the world.

The meeting ended with a shared vision to create a strong committee that will focus on developing heritage-based tourism and ensure that Mizoram’s cultural treasures get the appreciation and attention they truly deserve.
