Mizoram CM Lalduhoma Launches Workshop on Handholding Scheme For Livestock Farmers

This initiative aims not only to enhance local production but also to improve the overall economic landscape for farmers.

In a significant move to promote self-reliance among farmers, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma launched the Convergence and Workshop on Handholding Scheme alongside the National Livestock Mission Scheme today. Addressing attendees, he emphasized the urgent need for the state to achieve self-sufficiency in livestock, highlighting the substantial financial burden of imports that costs the state lakhs annually.

CM Lalduhoma expressed his government’s commitment to the Handholding Scheme, which marks a shift from traditional freebie policies to more sustainable support for farmers. He underscored the prioritization of livestock farmers under the National Livestock Mission, assuring that the government would be a guarantor for those facing challenges in securing loans.

Moreover, Lalduhoma announced a transformative role for the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, positioning it as a leader in the food processing sector in Mizoram.

This initiative aims not only to enhance local production but also to improve the overall economic landscape for farmers. With these initiatives, the government is setting the stage for a more resilient agricultural framework, empowering farmers and fostering sustainable development in the region.
