Mithali Raj turns 41: A look at career, accomplishments of Indian batting legend

Legendary Indian skipper and batter Mithali Raj, one of the pillars of modern women’s cricket, turned 41 on Sunday. On this occasion, let us look at her career and accomplishments.

Test career

Mithali represented India in 12 Tests, scoring 699 runs at an average of 43.68, with one century and four fifties in 19 innings. Her best score is 214.

ODI career

In 232 ODIs, Mithali scored 7.805 runs at an average of 50.68. She scored seven centuries and 64 fifties in 211 innings. Her best score is 125*. Mithali has the most runs in ODI cricket history among women’s cricketers.

T20I cricket

Mithali also played in T20Is, scoring 2,364 runs at an average of 37.52 in 89 matches and 84 innings. She scored 17 half-centuries in the format, with the best score of 97*.

Most runs in women’s international cricket

Mithali has represented India in 333 international matches, scoring 10.868 runs in 314 innings at an average of 46.64. She has scored eight centuries and 85 fifties in international cricket, the most fifty-plus scores by a woman in international cricket. She is also the top run scorer in women’s cricket as a whole.

Captained team in two World Cup finals

Mithali as a captain, took Team India to two 50-over Women’s World Cup finals, once in 2005 and 2017. Both times, India lost to Australia and England respectively.
