Following the signing of this memorandum, the State Referral Hospital/Zoram Medical College will be empanelled under ECHS
The Ministry of Defence has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the State Referral Hospital/Zoram Medical College in Aizawl, Mizoram to ensure easy access to healthcare facilities to ex-servicemen and their dependents under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS).
In the state of Mizoram, ECHS services have been provided by Station Headquarters, Aizawl, through two ECHS Polyclinics: ECHS Polyclinic, Aizawl, and ECHS Polyclinic, Lunglei.
This significant agreement was signed on behalf of Headquarters Eastern Command, Headquarters 101 Area, Shillong, and the Central Organization ECHS by Colonel Senthil Kumar S, Director, Regional Centre, ECHS Guwahati, and Dr John Zohmingthanga, Director and Medical Superintendent, State Referral Hospital/Zoram Medical College.
Following the signing of this memorandum, the State Referral Hospital/Zoram Medical College will be empanelled under ECHS. This will provide the patients, including Assam Rifles Pensioners, referred from ECHS Polyclinic, Aizawl, and Lunglei, with access to multi-specialty and super-specialty healthcare services at the hospital. Both ECHS Polyclinics in Aizawl and Lunglei operate under the auspices of Station Headquarters, Aizawl, and strive to provide comprehensive medical coverage to Ex-Servicemen (ESMs) in Mizoram, an official release said.
This agreement is expected to simplify the process for veterans and their families to obtain the necessary multi-speciality, super-speciality, secondary, and tertiary medical care they require without the need to travel to distant cities like Guwahati or Kolkata, addressing a significant healthcare challenge that has persisted over the past three years, the release further added.
ECHS, launched on April 1 2003, aims to provide quality healthcare to ex-servicemen and their dependents across India through a network of ECHS Polyclinics, Armed Forces medical facilities, and private empanelled/Government hospitals.
“The Ministry of Defence is committed to improving the health and well-being of Ex-Servicemen and their dependents in Mizoram and across the country, and this MoA marks a significant step in that direction,” the release said.
