Officials have also assured that they will assist her in returning to Meghalaya if she chooses, or help her reach her husband in Tamil Nadu.

A woman from Meghalaya working as a housemaid in Nagpur was brutally assaulted by her employer, triggering a swift response from authorities in both Maharashtra and Meghalaya. Within hours of the incident, Nagpur police, in close coordination with Meghalaya police, launched an investigation and ensured immediate protection for the victim.

A senior police official confirmed that Meghalaya police have established constant communication with the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 4, in Nagpur to guarantee full support for the woman. She remains under police protection in Nagpur and has undergone a medical examination. Authorities are now waiting for her to file a formal complaint so that they can initiate legal proceedings against the accused.

Officials have also assured that they will assist her in returning to Meghalaya if she chooses, or help her reach her husband in Tamil Nadu. They have pledged all possible legal and logistical support once she lodges an FIR.

Currently, the woman is receiving medical care and staying in protective accommodation. Meanwhile, officials from both states have begun an urgent review of policies to strengthen protection for migrant domestic workers, especially women employed far from home.
