The alleged molestation of two female patients by a resident doctor at the NEIGRIHMS in Meghalaya has evoked sharp reactions across the state.

Civil society groups along with various other groups and organizations have demanded speedy enquiry into the matter and stern action against the accused if found guilty.

Civil Society Women Organisation, president, Agnes Kharshiing termed the incident as very unfortunate. Besides she also lauded the efforts of the police for swinging into action quickly and hoped that justice will be delivered at the earliest.

The police yesterday arrested a senior resident doctor of NEIGRIHMS, Dr Jhutan Choudhury, in connection with the alleged molestation of two women who were present at his chamber for a medical check up on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Delhi KSU Unit president Marbiang Khongwir said that the incident is sad and disturbing as everyone goes to a doctor with a lot of faith and believe.

The KSU leader also demanded that the chargesheet must be filed immediately and the accused must be punished immediately if found guilty.
