Cabinet Minister and MLA Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar will not be contesting from the party in the upcoming assembly elections in 2023.

The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), which is an ally of the MDA coalition has made it amply clear that Cabinet Minister and MLA Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar will not be contesting from the party in the upcoming assembly elections in 2023.

This comes in the wake of numerous reports stating that Tonkhar would join the United Democratic Party.

HSPDP General Secretary Panbor Ryntathiang said that the party has already announced Medalson Lyngdoh Tonghar as its official candidate from Mawkyrwat.

Further, he also said that it will not take action against its MLAs who are set to join other political parties for contesting the polls.

Meanwhile, speaking about Sohiong MLA Samlin Malngiang who is said to be looking for an NPP ticket, Ryntathiang said the vice president of the party M Mukhim would meet Malngiang to know about his decision so that things are clear.

It may be mentioned here that the HSPDP has only two MLAs in the house of sixty.
