Meghalaya hopes for a stronger education sector in state with the newly set up education commission: CM Sangma

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today said that the government hopes to see a transition into a much healthier and stronger education sector in the state with the recently set up four-member Meghalaya State Education Commission (MSEC).

CM Sangma today inaugurated the office space of the MSEC at the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) office in Lower Lachumiere in the presence of Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma.

The Chief Minister said that with the vision to bring reforms in the education sector, the State Cabinet has set up the MSEC to give direction and to align the government’s development goals with the future of the state’s youth at the focal point.

He said that the education sector in Meghalaya has accumulated many challenges over the years and the government is positive that the MSEC comprising of few of the best minds in the State can together work out a practical solution to overcome these challenges.

The Chief Minister also attended the first meeting of the Commission members today.

After the meeting, he said, “I am very happy that today the first meeting of the commission was formally held. The kind of leadership that is there in the commission, I am sure it will be able to come out with positive suggestions and we will be able to see a transition into a much healthier and stronger education sector in our state.”
