The Meghalaya government reviewed the Shillong-Dawki road project on Tuesday ahead of the monsoon season and instructed the technical experts to identify the deplorable sections, prepare an action plan, and keep a dedicated team for emergency work ready 24/7.
After the review meeting, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister and also in-charge of PWD (roads), Prestone Tynsong said, “We discussed the landslide-prone area where we identified a few deplorable ones and how to take care of this coming monsoon as it is dangerous.”
“We discussed all the details of how the technical people will prepare the action plan and make sure that the dedicated team for any emergency work has to be there 24/7,” Prestone Tynsong added.
Tynsong further shared that they reviewed the JICA project from Shillong to Dawki and discussed if there is a PIL against the progress of the road in packages one, four, and five and the retendering process of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCl).
“I reviewed the project of JICA Shillong to Dawki, and we also discussed that there is a PIL against the progress of the road, package one, package 4, package 5, and the retendering process of the NHIDCl,” the Deputy Chief Minister added.
