Speaking about the recent arrest of the HNLC sleeper cells members from Ri Bhoi, Tynsong said that the law will take action against illegal activities by the proscribed HNLC.
Following the formation of the new Government at the centre, the Government of Meghalaya has sent out fresh invitations to the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) to resume the peace talks.
Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong has requested the HNLC to come forward to resume the tripartite talks between the organisation, State Government and the centre.
Requesting HNLC to come back for talks, the Deputy Chief Minister asked why not continue the talks till the end.
Speaking to media, Prestone Tynsong said, “The door for negotiation and discussion across the table is still open for the members of the HNLC. So once again, I request them to come back for talks and let us sit down across the table and continue with the talks till the end.”
Speaking about the recent arrest of the HNLC sleeper cells members from Ri Bhoi, Tynsong said that the law will take action against illegal activities by the proscribed HNLC.
He said that the Government is very clear that it is totally against any criminal activities. Law will take its own course not only for HNLC but anybody for any criminal activities committed.
He also appealed to the HNLC to stop all criminal activities and come back for peace talks.
Earlier this year, the HNLC had withdrawn from the tripartite peace talks stating that their demands for general amnesty were not met.
