In a bold and coordinated military action named Operation Sindoor, India launched missile strikes targeting nine identified terror camps located across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) during the midnight hours. The precision strikes were aimed at dismantling infrastructure linked to anti-India terrorist activities.

Briefing the nation on Wednesday, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri jointly addressed the media, providing key details about the operation and reaffirming India’s firm stance against terrorism emanating from across the border.

The Faces Behind the Briefing

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, a decorated officer from the Indian Army’s Corps of Signals, has a long track record of breaking barriers. At just 35, she has already etched her name in history. In March 2016, as a Lieutenant Colonel, Qureshi became the first woman to lead an Indian Army contingent in a multinational military exercise, Exercise Force 18, the largest ever hosted by India. The event saw participation from 18 nations, including the US, China, Russia, Japan, and ASEAN countries.

She also served as a military observer with the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Congo in 2006 and has been actively involved in peacekeeping efforts since 2010. Qureshi continues to be a shining example of leadership and excellence in military operations, particularly in areas focused on peacekeeping and humanitarian efforts.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, a helicopter pilot in the Indian Air Force, has logged over 2,500 flying hours operating aircraft like Cheetah and Chetak in challenging terrains across Jammu & Kashmir and the Northeast.

Her military journey began with a dream to fly, nurtured through the National Cadet Corps (NCC). She became the first in her family to join the armed forces and was commissioned as a pilot. On December 18, 2019, she received a permanent commission in the flying branch. Notably, she played a key role in critical air operations in Arunachal Pradesh in November 2020.
