Massive Fire Destroys APDCL Substation in Udharbond, Power Cut in Several Areas

In a statement issued by APDCL, authorities confirmed that the damage is extensive and may take several days to fix.
A major fire broke out late Tuesday night at the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) substation in Pangram, Udharbond, causing severe damage and leaving several areas without electricity.
According to officials, the fire destroyed key equipment at the power distribution substation, including a 5 MVA Power Transformer (PTR), a Distribution Transformer (DTR), the 11 KV yard, and several power and control cables. Despite the fire brigade’s efforts, the fire could not be controlled in time to save the equipment.
In a statement issued by APDCL, authorities confirmed that the damage is extensive and may take several days to fix. Due to this, power supply has been disrupted in areas such as Udharbond, Dudhpatil, Palorbond, Majagram, and Shalganga.
The power department has started an investigation to find out what caused the fire. Meanwhile, local residents have expressed concern over the power outage and have urged the authorities to restore electricity as soon as possible.
Officials have assured that repair and restoration work is being carried out on a priority basis.
