CM N Biren Singh said that the state government will provide Rs 500 per month

Women in Manipur aged 40 and above with no financial support or cover of any welfare schemes would be given an annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000 to help them manage their family needs, announced CM N Biren Singh at the Nupi Lan Day programme today.

CM N Biren Singh attended the Nupi Lan Day at Nupi Lan complex in Imphal West and paid floral tribute to the brave women freedom fighters who took part in the Second Nupi Lan ( Women’s war).

Recognising the selfless contribution of those women, the state government have announced two schemes to honour them– renaming of the road stretch from Governor’s Traffic Point to Pureiromba Khongnangkhong as ‘Nupi Lal Road’ and the ‘Chief Minister’s Ima Nongthangleima Yaipha Tengbang Scheme’.

Speaking to media, CM N Biren Singh said that the state government will provide Rs 500 per month to the beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Ima Nongthangleima Yaipha Tengbang Scheme.

He said, “Through financial assistance and resources, the Ima Nongthangleima Yaipha Tengbang scheme aims to empower women, fostering economic independence and contributing to their overall well-being. The scheme is designed to benefit approximately 4 lakh women in Manipur who are above the age of 40 years, providing them with crucial support for their diverse livelihood pursuits.”

The Chief Minister said, “Many schemes have been launched by the state government but part of the women’s section has been left out mainly from the 40 years to the 60 years. We are going to provide Rs 500 to each woman aged 40 and above. Each of the woman will be provided Rs 6,000 per annum, so that they can help in the management of their families.”
