5 JD (U) MLAs along with the State President Ksh Biren left Imphal today to attend the national executive committee meeting in Delhi tomorrow.

After the Janata Dal-United parted ways from the National Democratic Alliance, now speculations are riff in Manipur, with reports of the Party withdrawing its support from the N Biren Singh-led government.

5 JD (U) MLAs along with the State President Ksh Biren left Imphal today to attend the national executive committee meeting in Delhi tomorrow.

Reportedly, JD (U) MLA, Abdul Nasir is already stationed in Delhi. Speaking to Northeast Live, the leader of the JD-U legislative wing, MLA Kh Joykisan said that the central leaders will decide on whether to break ties with the BJP in Manipur or not and the modalities thereof during the national executive meeting. He said that everything will be finalized within the next 2 days.

Along with the 6 JD (U) MLAs, the BJP-led government in Manipur currently has 55 legislators on the ruling bench.

It may be noted that while the BJP already has enough MLAs of its own to sustain its government, the effect of possible breaking away of the state unit of JDU, is yet to be ascertained.
