Last night, Jiribam saw a lot of violence as angry mob attacked the offices of political parties, BJP and Congress, and burnt office furniture and other items and even set fire to the mobile tower in Kalinagar area of Jiribam protesting the ban on internet services.

Speaking to the media, a local resident said, “They were going to the SP’s office to address their grievances, but the SP wasn’t there. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) asked them to submit their demands in writing. The protestors then gathered near the Irabot statue to discuss their demands. While they were doing so, a special commando officer allegedly confronted them, leading to a heated verbal exchange. The officer left, but tension escalated as the protestors headed toward the police station.”

As the crowd moved toward the guest house, the officer reportedly started firing at them. One person was shot in the neck and died on the spot, while another was injured with a bullet wound to the back.”
