Manipur: Students Protest at BOSEM Office Demanding Appointment of New Chairman
First Published: 5th December, 2024 20:58 IST
The protest was sparked by the ongoing delay in appointing a new Chairman for the board, which has raised concerns about the future of students.
Members of the Federal Students Organisation Kangleipak (FESOK) staged a demonstration at the Board of Secondary Education Manipur office, calling for immediate action for the appointment of a new Chairman.
The protest was sparked by the ongoing delay in appointing a new Chairman for the board, which has raised concerns about the future of students.
A brief scuffle also erupted between the protesting students and police personnel as they attempted to lock down the BOSEM office. Following a meeting with the Secretary In-Charge of BOSEM, FESOK President Kangujam Amarjit addressed the media. He expressed frustration over the lack of action from the relevant authorities regarding the appointment of a new Chairman, despite several requests made to the Education Minister and the concerned department.
On October 24, the Joint Director of the Department of Education (S) issued a notification regarding the appointment of a Chairman for BOSEM. However, this announcement has yet to lead to any actual results.
In light of these ongoing issues, FESOK has decided to escalate their protest by locking the BOSEM office as a means to protect students’ interests and future. Kangujam Amarjit warned that the organization would intensify its agitation if the relevant authorities do not respond to their demands promptly.
